Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga now says President William is not taking charge in the UDA party wrangles to stop the ongoing dispute between his allies and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking on Sunday, June 16 night during an interview with NTV, Kahiga said the President should be the one defending DP Gachagua since he went through the same humiliation during the previous administration.
The Nyeri Governor claimed that the President could be speaking two different things since his allies have been attacking DP Gachagua despite Ruto speaking publicly that he would not allow him to be humiliated.
“The problem lies in that the President is not taking charge. He is the President and whoever is going through this trouble is his deputy, it is upon him to defend that office. He knows what he went through, we pitied him when he was traumatized, harassed, and denied rights, and now when he sits back and watches these things happen we hear him saying please respect Rigathi Gachagua but two days we see his people walking around disparaging the deputy president,” Kahiga stated.
He went ahead to say that the President should take a firm stand and direct his camp and that Gachagua to be in order.

Kahiga mentioned that things are currently not well in the Kenya Kwanza government and pleaded with President Ruto to take charge and resolve the issues.
“These shenanigans will have to come to an end when the President takes a firm stand and directs all forces including ourselves, we are subject to the President's orders. If he gets his house in order and Rigathi Gachagua his,” he added.
Gachagua and his allies have been in a war of words with President Ruto’s allies in recent days with the DP accusing them of trying to interfere with the Mt Kenya politics.
On Saturday the DP claimed that the Ruto allies have formed a WhatsApp group named Project 22 to undermine his role in the government.
"Now they are trying to incite other leaders against me through a group called Project 22 by convincing them that I am a bad person,” Gachagua claimed.
On the other hand, the DP is being accused of being a tribalist over the one-man-one shilling revenue proposal and the Mt Kenya unity.
