A multi-agency security team on Friday, July 12 gunned down four Al-Shabaab militants and recovered a cache of weapons in Mandera County.
The security team manning the Kenya-Somalia border received intelligence and smoked out the Al-Shabaab terrorists from their hideout in the Banisa sub-county.
However, eight insurgents managed to escape from the hideout and were injured during the process.
Kenyan security forces have launched a manhunt to track down the Al-Shabab militants.
During the intelligence-led operation, the Kenyan security team recovered one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, four RPG warheads, one PKM machine gun, three AK-47 rifles, seven AK-47 magazines, five pistols with one magazine each, and five mobile phones.

This comes after four police officers from the Special Operations Group (SOG) were killed in an Al-Shabaab attack in the Guba area of Mandera County.
The four officers, who were on patrol, died after being hit by a rocket-propelled grenade. Six other SOG officers were injured in the incident and were evacuated by emergency teams and taken to Banisa Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi.
Five officers who were reported missing during the attack were also found alive but with injuries.
The Kenya-Somalia border has seen a number of terrorist attacks in recent years by Al-Shabaab militants, who have infiltrated security zones and injured civilians and security officers.
