Karua stated that the forum was formed to champion the interests of the Mt Kenya region beyond the 2022 general elections.


NARC Leader Martha Karua has been elected as the Mount Kenya spokesperson by a section of leaders from the region on an interim basis.

In a consultative meeting held in Naivasha on Monday, September 20, 2021, the leader unanimously settled on Karua to negotiate on behalf of the region.

"I want to say this for avoidance of doubt, that this forum has today, unanimously choses Martha Karua to be our official spokesperson on interim basis," Gatundu Member of Parliament Moses Kuria stated.

The meeting was attended by leaders drawn from various part of Central Kenya, noting that they met to discuss pertinent issues affecting the region.

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo was among the leaders in attendance.

Karua stated that the forum was formed to champion the interests of the Mt Kenya region beyond the 2022 general elections.

She revealed that the forum will work on a blueprint that will be presented to presidential candidates seeking votes in the region.

"It will be presented not only to presidential candidates but also to other agencies that may have a bearing; security, revenue sharing.

"This is  beyond the presidential race, it is about permant community of interest and permanent issues that need to be addressed," Karua stated.

Kabogo seconded Karua's sentiments, dismissing any allegations of the region having an ulterior motive ahead of the 2022 general polls.

The meeting comes after Karua and Kuria met with TSP leader Mwangi Kiunjuri to plot succession politics, announcing that they will reveal a grand plan before the end of 2021.
