Confirming his arrest, Naivasha sub-county police commander Samuel Waweru said then suspect will be arraigned in court after police complete their investigations into the matter

A murder suspect was on Saturday, January 8 arrested after turning up at the crime scene hours after the alleged killing. 

The suspect is accused of killing a boda boda operator following a brief altercation between them after failing to pay the rider on arrival at his destination. 

The suspect was being ferried to his home located in Karima, Maai Mahiu in Nakuru County. 

"An altercation ensued, which later turned into a fist fight between the two. However, the boda boda operator was overpowered,” said an investigating officer. 

According to the officer, the suspect hit the boda boda operator several times on the head with a stone, killing him on the spot. 

He then rode the motorcycle and hid it near his compound shortly before turning at the incident scene mourning the departed rider.

However, the officer noted that villagers noticed blood splatter on his clothes and upon questioning him, he ran away before police officers caught with him an hour later. 

"He managed to hide in a nearby thicket but police and the public finally caught up with him almost half an hour later," said the officer. 

Confirming his arrest, Naivasha sub-county police commander Samuel Waweru said then suspect will be arraigned in court after police complete their investigations into the matter. 

“He is the prime suspect in the killing incident but police are continuing with their investigations to establish the motive,” he said.

The suspect is currently being held at the Naivasha Police Station.
