MediaMax Limited, a company that owns K24 TV and linked to President Uhuru Kenyatta's family, has been firing journalists 'silently' for the last two months.
Nairobi Leo has established that whereas many media houses have been announcing the reorganisation of their workforce and planned entrenchment, MediaMax has been sacking journalists in phases.
A source aware of the ongoing entrenchment intimated to Nairobi Leo that over 50 journalists have been sacked by the media house.
Among those hardly hit by the layoff are those in the broadcast question, especially K24 TV.
Another lot that has faced the sack are journalists attached to the new digital product K24 Plus.

The People Daily newspaper and Msenangu Fm radio station have also been hard hit as the company seeks to remain afloat in line with the prevailing economic situation.
The source told Nairobi Leo that the affected journalists are called one by one at the Human Resource office to receive their sack letters.
The modus Operandi is a sharp contrast to what many media houses grappling with revenue challenges are doing.
So far, The Standard Media Group, Nation Media Group and Radio Africa Group have announced the mass layoff of journalists.
Nation has already sent packing top journalists in its bid to reduce the wage bill.
