Education Cabinet Secretary Dr George Magoha has issued guidelines for the phased re-opening of higher learning institutions across the country warning that non-compliance will result in paralysis of learning.
Magoha in a press statement stated that higher learning institutions shall resume operations starting the first week of October on Monday 5.
Leaners in their final years of study at Teachers Training Colleges and Technical and Vocational Education Training centres shall be required to report back on Monday.
He directed the boards at the TTCs and TVETs to plan on resumption dates for other learned while guiding that priority is given to those undertaking practical courses.
Final year students across all universities and their campuses will also be required back in school starting Monday 5, October.

University councils have also been asked to prioritize students in science courses when issuing opening dates for continuing students.
The CS directed that the learning institutions ensure strict adherence to the Covid-19 containment measures.
Students will be required to ensure social distancing, wear masks and use hand sanitizers.
He stated that temperatures of all persons accessing the learning institutions shall have their body temperatures checked and high hygiene standards shall be observed.
"All universities and tertiary institutions that had been designated as isolation centres shall be fumigated under the supervision of the ministry of health prior to reopening," Mogoha's directives read in part.
He warned that institutions that will fail to religiously follow in the guidelines for containment of Covid-19 will have learners sent home.
