Since Uhuru was charged with heading the process, remarkable progress has been made in restoring peace in the DRC.
The conflict between the Kinshasa troops and M23 men has seen the displacement of people and sexual offence perpetrated on women and children.
The US has held that Rwanda is backing the rebels.
However, North Kivu has enjoyed relative peace and a reduction of violence since the peace process started although the situation remains volatile.
