"I can now say confidently that the economy of Kenya is in good standing."

President William Ruto now says that his primary competitor in the 2027 General Election will be his government's track record.

Speaking on Thursday, January 9, in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Ruto dismissed his critics, asserting that the time for politics will come.

The President emphasized that there was no need for threats, highlighting that the country's economy is performing well due to the initiatives implemented by his administration.

"I want to ask my fellow leaders to work together. The day for politics will come. There is no need to threaten each other. Cheap threats have no meaning. When the day comes for politics, let everyone come with their agenda.

"As of now, the competition is between me and my track record. These other competitors I haven't seen them. It has taken time to conclude our projects because I found the economy in a bad state. I can now say confidently that the economy of Kenya is in good standing," President Ruto remarked.

His remarks come after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently dared him to visit the Mt. Kenya region.

Gachagua urged the president to address the residents and explain what he described as acts of betrayal and oppression against them, claiming that the president insulted them when they told him all was not well.

“Let me advise you, Mr. President. Don’t wait for the anger of Mt. Kenya residents to go down because it is going up. If you fear anger, you won’t come. So you come and don’t stay because these people have questions to ask you," Gachagua stated.

He added, "Come and tell them why you betrayed, hated and oppressed them. When you are done with that, tell them why you insult them when they tell you things are not going well.”
