The five candidates will be interviewed on Friday, March 21, 2025. 

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has shortlisted 5 candidates for the position of Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi (UoN).

In a statement on Monday, March 17, PSC noted that 6 candidates applied for the role but 5 were shortlisted for interviews. 

Among the shortlisted candidates is former Principal Secretary in the Ministry of ICT, Professor Elijah Bitange Ndemo.

Others include; Professor James Njiru, Professor Duke Orata, Professor Ayub Njoroge Gitau, and Professor Francis Jackim Mulaa.

The five candidates will be interviewed on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the PSC offices at Harambee Avenue in Nairobi and are expected to avail themselves at least 20 minutes before the starting time.

Professor Njiru will be the first candidate to be interviewed at 8:30 a.m. followed by Professor Orata at 9:30 a.m.

Professor Ndemo will be interviewed at 10:30 a.m. followed by Professor Gitau and Professor Mulaa at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. respectively.

PSC noted that the candidates are required to produce originals of the National Identity Card, Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, supporting documents and testimonials; and a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for any degree obtained from foreign universities.

Further, PSC invited members of the public to submit any credible information related to the six candidates to the commission before March 19, 2025.

“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates (through sworn affidavits) to the Secretary/CEO Public Service Commission, 4th floor Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi or online through [email protected] so as to be received on or before 19th March 2025,” PSC stated.
