The Jubilee Party has warned Kenyans over fake Facebook accounts being linked with David Murathe.

In a statement dated Wednesday, March 19, the former ruling party clarified that Murathe did not have any social media account.

Therefore, Kenyans were called upon to ignore the comments and statements made in the accounts.

Notably, the party gave the advisory after one of the accounts made some statements directed at former Interior CS Fred Matiang'i.

The account had also made some allegations over the potential changes in President William Ruto's Cabinet.

"Hon. David Murathe is not on any social media platform. All accounts and pages bearing his name are fake and do not represent his views or stance. Ignore and treat them with the contempt they deserve," read the statement in part.

The recent emergence of fake social media accounts has targeted various institutions and notable Kenyan leaders.

The accounts have also been used to spread propaganda and swindle Kenyans with posts on fake job opportunities.

Some of the affected organizations have included Kenya Power and Kenya Railways.

Consequently, Kenyans are advised to exercise extra vigilance and monitor whether the accounts are verified. Kenyans also need to check the account history to ascertain whether it is a fake account that has been verified.
