"We have worked on guidelines to transition our learners from Grade 9 to Grade 10. Starting May 20, we are going to have our learners begin their choices for senior schools," he announced.

Earlier, Fred Odhiambo, the Deputy Director of Education at the Ministry of Education, revealed that schools will be categorised based on pathways. The pathways include Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Social Sciences (humanities), and Performing Arts, Music, and Athletics.

Learners will be required to pick 12 schools during the process. Out of the 12, 9 schools will be boarding schools (3 will have to be from the learner's home county, while the remaining 6 have to be outside their home county).

On the other hand, the remaining 3 choices will go to day schools in the home sub-county.
