The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have rescued a 3-year-old boy who was stolen from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu county, and arrested two suspects linked to the kidnapping.
In a statement on Monday, May 26, DCI said the suspects were nabbed after the parents of the child reported his disappearance at the Ruiru Police Station.
Detectives then launched investigations into the missing child, leading them to the Western and Central regions.
“Responding to a missing child report booked at Ruiru Police Station by the devastated parents, the officers embarked on a painstaking investigation that led them to the Western and Central regions, where supposed perpetrators were rounded up,” read the DCI statement in part.
The hawkshaws stormed into one of the suspect’s houses in Tetu, Nyeri county, and found the minor in the company of the house owner (George Maina) and the man believed to have snatched him away from his Ruiru home (Samuel Juma).

The child was rescued and taken to safety while the two suspects were cuffed and taken into custody.
The child's parents have been informed of the rescue and the kid has been taken to hospital for medical examination, pending their reunion.
“The arrest of the two suspected child traffickers comes at a time when cases of children going missing have sent shockwaves across the country, a worrying trend that the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit has vowed to deploy maximum force on,” DCI added.
