"The President called Ojwang's father after I looked for the number and gave it to him. He said his sorry as a parent who feels the pain. He has also sent me here today with Ksh2 million," the governor announced.
Wanga also noted that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga also talked with Ojwang's father on the phone.

Ojwang was arrested following a complaint by Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat over social media posts.
The teacher died at the Central Police Station, with investigations underway to establish who killed him.
As a result, Lagat stepped aside on Tuesday, pending investigations into the matter.
"In the good and conscious thought of my role and responsibilities as The Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Service, and in view of the ongoing investigations on the unfortunate incident of the death of Mr. Albert Ojwang, I have today opted to step aside from the office of the Deputy Inspector General Kenya Police Service pending completion of investigations.
"The functions of the office will henceforth be performed by my deputy until completion of the investigations," he wrote.
