Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi now says President William Ruto made a mistake appointing Kipchumba Murkomen to head the Ministry of Interior.
Speaking on Thursday, July 17, Muturi accused CS Murkomen of being childish and excited about power.
“They say if you want to test a man, give them power. Power has gotten into his (Murkomen's) head. He is also a fairly young man and is excited about the exercise of power. There is also an element of childishness in him.
“The appointing authority, William Ruto himself, made a mistake giving such an excitable youth the responsibility to head a docket as serious as Interior. It was both a mistake and intentional,” said Muturi.
The former Public CS also slammed President Ruto, saying the appointment of Murkomen to the Interior docket reflects poor leadership.

“Murkomen is very easily excited, and you can see it in his behavior, when you give him the interior docket, even you, the appointing authority, must begin questioning your capacity at leadership,” Muturi added.
Murkomen was appointed as the Interior Cabinet Secretary on December 19, 2024, after the position was left vacant following Kithure Kindiki’s elevation to be the Deputy President.
The Interior CS was recently on the spot after he directed the police to shoot and kill those who approached police stations during protests.
Murkomen was forced to clarify he had not instructed the police to use their firearms recklessly following a public uproar.
"We have not said that they should use it recklessly. We are just trying to protect the officers whose lives are in danger, and they are being told that they should not use the guns because they will be charged," Murkomen stated.
