Juja MP George Koimburi has been charged with staging his own abduction in a bid to evade arrest and prosecution.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 23, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said the MP appeared before the Milimani Law Courts where he denied all charges brought against him.
According to the ODPP, Koimburi orchestrated the fake abduction on Sunday, May 25, in Mugutha area, Juja, Kiambu County, as a means of avoiding arraignment at the Kiambu Law Courts.
The ODPP said he was expected to face four counts related to land fraud at the Kiambu Law Courts.
"The lawmaker had staged the abduction to avoid arrest and arraignment at Kiambu Law Courts, where he was scheduled to face four counts related to land fraud," the statement read.

The court was further informed that the MP's actions amounted to a conspiracy to defeat justice.
The prosecution also disclosed that Koimburi faces an additional charge of publishing false information following a statement he released online.
"On 7th June 2025, at Karen Hospital, Prosecution told court that Koimburi issued a press statement via YouTube claiming he had been abducted and tortured by criminals. The statement was purportedly false and intended to cause panic to the public," the statement added.
Koimburi pleaded not guilty to all charges; the court granted him release on a cash bail of Ksh300,000, with the additional requirement that he provide three contact persons
The case has been scheduled for mention on Tuesday, August 5, when the court is expected to give further directions.
