The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a travel advisory warning of significant traffic disruptions in Nairobi as Kenya hosts the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
In a statement on Sunday, August 3, KAA said the traffic disruptions are expected to affect travel times to both Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport.
“Nairobi is today hosting a key match of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), one of Africa’s premier football tournaments. To facilitate the smooth movement of teams, officials, and fans, and to enhance security around the match venue, several major roads in the city will be fully closed or partially restricted.
“Traffic disruptions are expected, affecting travel times to and from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport,” read the advisory in part.
Among the affected roads is Aerodrome Road, which will be fully closed from Madaraka roundabout to Bunyala roundabout.
