Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has spoken out on the possibility of teaming up with former Chief Justice David Maraga ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, August 5, Omtatah stated that any alliance would depend entirely on shared values and vision for the country.

"If David Maraga’s agenda and mine are the same, there is no reason why we should run from different sides but if his agenda is different from mine, I will not team up with him.

"My agenda is bigger than me. I am not the Messiah, and no Kenyan can be, only the law can be the Messiah," he said.

During the same interview, Omtatah noted that his focus is ensuring real change for the country, cautioning against leaders who seek office simply to wield power.

"I will work with anybody who is agreeable to those irreducible minimums. If somebody just wants to replace Ruto so that he can now take over the system and continue committing sins against the Republic of Kenya, I cannot work with such a fellow.

"There has to be a deliberate and clear pathway to transforming this country so that after 2027, the presidency will not be as attractive as it is today," he stated.

Additionally, Omtatah emphasized that his presidential bid is not driven by personal gain but by a sense of duty in the face of what he sees as a national crisis.

"I am a realist. I am not running for president because I think there is a vacuum or because I want a job. I am running for president because I feel there is a job to be done.

"We are facing an existential threat as a country. I have a vision that is in the national anthem, the Swahili version, when you look at it, it has got a very clear vision of what this country should look like. The mission to that vision is the constitution," he further said.

Meanwhile, Omtatah disclosed that his net worth ranges between Ksh100 million and Ksh200 million, consisting of parcels of land and a transportation company he owns.

“I own quite a bit of land, which I have been buying pieces here and there. I run a transport company, which has several trucks.

"I have not calculated my net worth, but I think if I was to be assessed well including liquidating the pieces of land I have and whatever I could put myself at between Ksh100 million to Ksh200 million as my worth in terms of assets and stuff like that, and I can account for each of them,” he revealed.
