The County Government of Nyeri has directed that all Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and Sientas relocate their operations to the Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima Terminus starting Monday, August 25.

The County Government of Nyeri has directed that all Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and Sientas relocate their operations to the Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima Terminus starting Monday, August 25.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, August 21, the county government said the move follows court directions issued earlier this year.

"This is to notify members of the public that pursuant to Court Directions issued by Hon. Justice Kizito on the 11th of June 2025 in Constitutional Petition E017 of 2024, the County Government of Nyeri hereby directs that all Public Service Vehicles and Sientas shall operate from Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima Terminus beginning from the 25th of August 2025," the notice read.

The notice further clarified that all other pick-up points within the county would cease operations, and noncompliant operators risk prosecution.

"All other terminuses will, therefore, be non-operational for the purposes of picking passengers; and any noncompliance with the guidelines issued shall be considered to be in contempt of Court Directions as well as a violation of County laws, and therefore liable for prosecution," the statement added.

According to the county government, affected operators have already been furnished with detailed guidelines to ensure a smooth relocation.

"Detailed guidelines on the relocation to the Terminus have been provided to the various Public Service Vehicles and Sientas representatives and owners," the notice concluded.

This comes barely two weeks after the county government issued a warning to land rate defaulters, urging them to settle their outstanding dues or face legal consequences.

In a notice on Tuesday, August 12, the devolved unit announced a 100 percent waiver on accumulated interest for land rate defaulters as part of its economic recovery strategy.

"The County Government of Nyeri with the approval of H.E. Dr. Governor Mwalimu Mutahi Kahiga, PHD., E.G.H, as part of the economic recovery strategy hereby gives notice to all Land Rates defaulters that 100% interest sums outstanding as at 12th August 2025 - 11th September 2025 will be waived on the following conditions: That the Rate payer clears in full the total principal land rate arrears and pays 10% administrative costs based on principal amount payable,” the statement read in part.

It warned that defaulters risk having their tenants compelled to pay directly to the county government until the land rates and accumulated interest are fully settled.

The notice further stated that any licenses or permits granted for premises with unpaid land rates could be cancelled or withdrawn.

Additionally, the county said no development approvals would be issued on properties with pending arrears until full payment is received.

Properties may also be charged over the unpaid rates together with interest until the outstanding amount is cleared.

The government added that land rate defaulters could also be denied access to all other services provided by the County Government of Nyeri.
