Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has issued a notice to all government-sponsored students regarding updated admission letters and funding applications under the Higher Education Financing (HEF) model.
In a statement on Thursday, August 21, the university directed new students placed by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) for the 2025/26 academic year to take action on their admission processes.
"All new students who applied for funding through hef.co.ke are advised to log in to the JKUAT Admissions Portal (admission.jkuat.ac.ke) to download their updated HEF Letters reflecting revised Semester 1 fee amounts," the notice read.
According to the university, the updated HEF letters will enable the Admissions Office to process student registrations to completion.
The institution noted that only students who complete registration will be granted access to university services.

The notice further emphasizes that continuing students must also adhere to the new requirements.
"Continuing students (2nd years and 3rd years) are reminded to reapply for funding for the 2025/2026 academic year and thereafter download their HEF Letters from eservices.jkuat.ac.ke," the notice added.
The institution warned that failure to follow these steps would have serious financial implications for affected students.
"Failure to complete these steps may result in payment of full tuition fees without Government subsidy plus additional charges," the notice further read.
JKUAT urged students to ensure they download the correct HEF letters, which reflect the updated semester fee amounts as provided under the HEF model.
In cases where the HEF letter does not reflect the correct amounts, students are required to reapply for funding immediately via the HEF Student Portal.
The university also clarified that students who do not apply for funding will be liable to pay the full tuition fee without government support, in addition to extra charges.
