President William Ruto on Friday, August 29, hosted grassroots leaders from Meru County at State House, Nairobi.
The delegation was led by Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma, with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also present during the meeting.
In his remarks after the engagement, Ruto emphasized the need for unity and collective effort in driving national progress.
"Kenya’s transformation demands unity of purpose and the power of collective action. It cannot be delivered in an instant, nor by one person alone, but through our shared resolve, sustained commitment, and steadfast consistency," he stated.

Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, outlining its role in stabilizing the economy and driving inclusive development.
"On our part, we stand firm on the pledges of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda — a tested framework that has already stabilised our economy, expanded opportunities for jobs, and advanced agriculture, healthcare, housing, and modern markets. These efforts are securing inclusive growth that leaves no Kenyan behind," he added.
Ruto noted that the meeting provided a platform to deliberate on pressing development issues in Meru County, including infrastructure, markets, and urban transformation.
"We deliberated on key infrastructure projects: upgrading roads, constructing modern markets, transforming Meru Town into a city, and securing sustainable markets for miraa, among others," he concluded.
This meeting comes two days after Ruto hosted grassroots leaders from Kiambu County at State House, Nairobi.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, alongside senior political leaders from the region including National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a, Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, and Kiambaa MP Njuguna Kawanjiku.
Also present were Gatundu North MP Elijah Kururia, Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe, Ruiru MP Simon King’ara, Limuru MP John Chege, Kabete MP James Kamau, and Kiambu Town MP John Waithaka, among others.
Following the meeting, Ruto reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises, pointing to ongoing projects in health, housing, markets, and infrastructure.
"We made a solemn commitment to the people of Kenya to transform our nation. We are proud to report that this promise is no longer a dream; it is unfolding before our eyes in healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure and employment, among others," he said.
In addition, Ruto said that his administration was investing heavily in the county’s development through market expansion and affordable housing.
"Through bold, deliberate, and resolute decisions, we are delivering the largest markets' development in Kenya’s history, including 30 modern markets in Kiambu County alone at a cost of Ksh4.5 billion. In addition, we are building 15,000 housing units in the county at a total of Ksh30 billion," he further said.
On infrastructure, Ruto pointed out plans for sports facilities and major road projects aimed at boosting connectivity and the local economy.
"We are also breaking new ground in infrastructure. A new 10,000-seater stadium will be built in Thika town. We will also complete the 240km Mau Mau roads in the Kiambu section, and dual the Muthaiga-Ndumberi road at Ksh22 billion and the Northern Bypass for which we have allocated Ksh20 billion," he concluded.
