Police in Msambweni on Friday morning mounted roadblocks and cordoned off the venue for a meeting of independent Msambweni parliamentary seat aspirant Faisal Abdalla Bader.
Bader has the backing of Deputy President William Ruto who suffered a major setback after Jubilee Party pulled out of the contest with the party SG citing the spirit of the handshake.
The candidate's rally was to be attended by Former Senators Johnson Muthama, Hassan Omar, Boni Khalwale and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa who had already landed at the coast.
DP Ruto while protesting the party decision said he would work with available candidates in what many have termed as defiance to the party.

On Thursday, the Deputy President was forced to cancel major functions in Kisii after police brought down tents and dispersed gatherings.
The DP announced having cancelled the events said the use of police forces was unnecessary.
"After consultations with MPs Kemosi, Mose, Nyamoko, the bodaboda Sacco and church leadership who had invited us, we have postponed the two functions in Nyamira County to Thursday next week. The disruptive dispersal by police of Kenyans engaged in economic empowerment is unnecessary," stated DP Ruto.
Kisii County Deputy Governor Dr. Joash Maangi was to host DP Ruto in Kenyenya today but the event has also been cancelled.
