The weatherman noted that the rainfall would bring relief in the regions.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in eight regions in the country this weekend, December 13 and onwards.

In its latest advisory, the agency warned of heavy rains in Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, North-Eastern, North-Western, South-Eastern Lowlands, Central Kenya and Nairobi.

According to the weatherman, the weather had been looked forward to by many in the aforementioned areas, especially in Western Kenya, the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin, where farmers were concerned over the fate of their crops.

The department noted that the rainfall "would bring some relief to many areas".

Meanwhile, the department cautioned the inhabitants of Marsabit and Turkana Counties, where strong winds are expected.

Those in the areas were counselled to take the necessary precautions.

"Heads up! Strong southeasterly winds, exceeding 25 knots (12.5 m/s), are expected over Marsabit and Turkana counties. Please take necessary precautions," the weatherman noted.

The review came three days after another one on December 9.

The weatherman projected rainfall in six regions, including the Highlands on both sides of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley itself, and the Coast.

Showers were also expected in the North-eastern and South-eastern lowlands.

Despite this, the forecast indicated that much of the country would remain largely sunny and dry during the week.

In the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the Rift Valley, daytime sunshine would be punctuated by scattered afternoon and nighttime showers.

The eastern highlands were set to experience cloudy mornings with light rain in some areas, followed by sunny spells and occasional showers later in the day and night.

Along the coast, sunny conditions would dominate, though showers were predicted in the morning, afternoon, and evening in select locations.

Daytime temperatures were expected to exceed 30°C in the Coast, Northeastern and Northwestern Kenya, as well as parts of the Southeastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Western highlands.
