President William Ruto has sanctioned appointments to government agencies.
Through a gazette notice published on Thursday, December 11, the head of state made appointments in the Nairobi River Commission and the Competition Authority.
In his commitment to cleanse the Nairobi River, the president has been intentional in empowering the NRC to optimise efforts to rehabilitate the water body.
He appointed Dr Loise Jepkeomboi to be a member of the commission.
"It is notified for the information of the general public that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces has appointed Loise Jepkemboi to be a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 11th December, 2025," the gazette notice read.

In the Competition Authority, the president reinforced its top brass with a new appointment.
Established under the Competition Act of 2010, the Competition Authority is majorly charged with promoting fair competition and protecting consumers in Kenya’s markets and shielding customers against business malpractices.

Ruto appointed Charles Mahinda to be the non-executive chairperson of the board.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Competition Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Charles Mahinda to be the non-executive chairperson of the board of directors of the Competition Authority, for a period of three (3) years," the gazetted notice read.
To create a vacancy in favour of Mahinda, the president revoked the appointment of Shaka Kariuki.
Elsewhere, certain members of the Cabinet also made appointments after the president.
Water CS Eric Mugaa appointed Lorna Timanoi Nkowua to be a member of the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency for a period of three years. The CS revoked the appointment of Letulala ole Masikonde.
On his part, Education CS Julius Ogamba made five appointments at the Mitunguu National Polytechnic in Meru County.
Ogamba appointed James Mugambi Kimathi to be Mitunguu Polytechnic's chairperson, Benjamin Okumu Okullu its non-executive chairperson, and Susan Mwebia, Stephen Rukaria, Edward Omoti, and Joan K. Gituma as members of the institution's council.
