Jubilee Party vice-chairman David Murathe has vowed to expose the real cartel behind the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa) PPE scandal.

In an interview with a local daily, Murathe said he will appear before a parliamentary committee next week on Thursday where he will shed light on his association with Kilig Ltd, a firm under investigation in the Sh7.8 billion Kemsa scam.

"I will be going to the committee on Thursday. I asked to appear in person to shed light on this matter but I was instructed to do an affidavit which is self-explanatory.

"I am not a beneficiary, owner, director, or shareholder at the company. I was just loaning the managers who are known to me," Murathe said during an interview with Standard.

Allies of Deputy President William Ruto had accused Murathe of being involved in the scandal on social media. Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika Kericho counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot and Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga had insinuated that Murathe knew more than he was letting on about the PPE procurement scandal.

However, the Jubilee Vice Chair dismissed their claims as he explained his position on the matter during the interview.

"What is this farce with me. I am not a signatory. This is just politics and they are making it a big deal yet the contract was cancelled. There was no procurement, delivery, or invoice raised. This committee is supposed to protect the public interest in the event goods and services are overpriced or supply air."
