Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i announced the extension of the nationwide curfew for 60 days.
In a gazette notice, CS Matiang'i said the dusk to dawn curfew will start at 10 pm and ending at 4 am.
“This order shall apply during the hours of darkness between ten o’clock in the evening and four o’clock in the morning with effect from May 28th 2021 and shall remain in effect for a period of sixty days thereof,” Dr Matiang’i said.
“There shall be no public gatherings, processions or movement, either alone or as a group, during the period of the curfew except as shall be permitted in writing,” he added.
County police commanders or sub-county police commanders will grant special permission to those who wish to be exempted.
President Uhuru Kenyatta in May lifted strict measures to curb the spread of Covid-19. He announced that in-person and congregational worship has also resumed ‘in strict fidelity to the guidelines issued by the Inter-Faith Council and the Ministry of Health.
Operations of restaurants and eateries in the zoned areas resumed in accordance with the set guidelines. Bars in the territory were also set to be in operation until 7:00 pm.
Hospitals were directed to limit the number of visitors for hospitalized patients to one visitor per patient, per day.

Health CS Kagwe reported 164 new Covid-19 infections from 3,452 samples tested in the past 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 170,647.
