Deputy President William Ruto has cancelled all his scheduled public engagements following the surge of Covid-19 cases in the country.
This comes after Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday 30th, July 2021 announced that all public gatherings had been suspended adding that the police would enforce the measures to ensure no rallies take place.
"All public gatherings and in-person meetings of whatever nature be suspended countrywide. In this regard, all Government including Intergovernmental meetings and conferences be converted to virtual or postponed," CS Kagwe declared.

DP Ruto encouraged the Kenyans to follow the guidelines issued by the Government to control the ravaging pandemic.

"The covid 19 situation in the country has escalated as stated by GoK this afternoon. My scheduled public engagements are hereby postponed until further notice. We all should take individual responsibility and adhere to guidelines issued so as to control this ravaging pandemic," DP Ruto tweeted.
CS Kagwe noted that the Government had witnessed a surge in new Covid-19 cases in the following counties Kiambu, Kajiado, Lamu, Makueni, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Taita Taveta and Tana River.
In an effort to control the increasing cases of the virus, Kagwe announced an extension of the nationwide 10.00 pm - 4.00 am curfew in all counties including those within the lake region.
The CS encouraged Kenyans to get vaccinated while directing all PSV operators not to allow any passenger onboard without a mask.
The country has experienced a surge of new Covid-19 cases in the last two weeks.
