  • The Deputy President addressed several gatherings in Kakamega County where he led an onslaught on the BBI report.

Deputy President William Ruto together with his troops on Sunday in Kakamega led an onslaught on the Building Bridges Initiative yet to be released to the public.

The DP in the company of a number of leaders from the region said the BBI initiative should allow Kenyans to give their thoughts on most of its proposals.

He cautioned leaders against imposing the report's recommendations adding that it must be a people-centred drive.

Ruto made the remarks after the Sunday service at Our Lady of Assumption, Indangalasia Catholic Church, Kakamega County.

Ruto was accompanied by MPs Justus Murunga (Matungu), Charles Gimose (Hamisi), Caleb Kositany (Soy), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West), Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu).

Former Senators Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) and Boni Khalwale (Kakamega) were also on his trail.

"Don't tell us that nobody can stop reggae. I want to request on behalf of many Kenyans that we have a decent conversation that is people-centred.

"Those proposals in the BBI report must be subjected to people's comments. The ordinary Kenyans left out of this debate because of poverty and unemployment are the true people that need inclusivity," stated DP Ruto.

He insisted that inclusivity has to start with the people who are in need of jobs and empowerment.

The DP stated that issues concerning Kenyans ought to be given priority over power-sharing that is only touching on leaders' lives.
