ODM leader Raila Odinga has officially declared his 2022 presidential bid.
The ODM chief made the announcement shortly after being endorsed at the Azimio La Umoja National Convention on Friday, December 10.
Speaking after the motion to endorse him was put forward, discussed, and approved, Raila said he will be in for his fifth stab at the Presidency.
“I do hereby accept to present myself as a Presidential candidate at the Presidential Election on 9th of August 2022 following the request and unanimous decision by this #Azimiolaumoja,” Raila said.

The ODM chief added that he is not running for the Presidency to oppose someone but to build a united nation.
“I am not running for president to oppose anyone but to propose better policies. I am in this race to mould one indivisible nation. I am not at war with personalities, I am at war with ideologies that would lead this nation in the wrong direction,” he said.
The motion to endorse the former Prime minister for the 2022 presidency was proposed by Dr David Nyamu Njoka, a voter in Mathioya Constituency, Muranga County.
The motion was seconded by Likoni MP Mishi Juma Mboko.
Former National Assembly Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo moderated the motion.
Irene Mayaka, a youthful leader from the Nyanza region, and Moffat Mandela, a youth from Western Kenya, supported the motion.
The motion was finally approved by the delegates setting the stage for Raila's yet another trial at the Presidency.
Friday's convention was a culmination of a series of Azimio La Umoja rallies held in several counties in Kenya where the ODM chief was also endorsed for president.
