Agriculture CS Peter Munya has dismissed claims of intent to contest for the Meru county gubernatorial seat in the August 9 General Elections.
In an update on Wendesday, February 9, the CS noted that he would lead Azimio La Umoja campaigns across the country and continue to build PNU party both at national and county level.
Munya also stated that he will not resign from his post in government, further noting that he will only support Azimio La Umoja candidates for senatorial and gubernatorial seats in Meru.
"I have been on my political journey. I have come to conclusion that I will not be running for the Meru gubernatorial seat. I will continue strengthening the relationship between Jubilee and Azimio
“I have not decided who I am supporting in Meru for governor or Senator but I will not support anyone who is not with Azimio,” he said.

This came hours after Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary (CS) Sicily Kariuki announced her resignation from President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet.
The Water CS will run for the Nyandarua Gubernatorial seat at the August polls.
"This follows months of listening to the people of Nyandarua who have come to trust me, my concern for them, my vision and dedication to accelerate development in the great County of Nyandarua," CS Sicily stated.
She stated that she would follow the lead of President Uhuru Kenyatta indicating that she would vie on a Jubilee ticket.
Sicily will now face the incumbent Governor Francis Kimemia who is seeking to defend his seat.
