Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary ambassador Macharia Kamau now says the government warned against sending Kenyan ladies to Saudi Arabia to work as domestic workers.
In response to a tweep Liz Ntonjira, a youth activist and journalist, the PS appeared to suggest that Kenyans are the ones to blame for allowing their kins to go to Saudi Arabia to work as domestic workers.
Ntonjira had questioned why Kenyan girls still suffer to date despite numerous cases having been reported before.

"@AmbMKamau but for how long will our sisters continue being enslaved in the middle east? Does it have to always get here for Govt to intervene? How many lives have been lost in the past? Still, these rogue agencies that send these young girls out there exist? What is being done?" Ntonjira posed.
In a rejoinder, the PS said: "@lizzientonjira Please. We have told Kenyans repeatedly to stop sending this category of workers to Saudi. You’ve chosen not to listen".
Kenyans suffering in Saudi Arabia is not news anymore.
More and more domestic workers taken there by agencies end up coming back badly mistreated or worse off dead.
The latest is that of Diana Chepkemoi who left the country as a healthy human only for images of his emaciated body to emerge online.
Her case prompted Kenyans to call for action and was traced successfully by authorities who ensured she is treated in preparation for her comeback.
