Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has quit the race to be the next speaker for the National Assembly.
Nairobi Leo has established that the National Executive Council of the Wiper party has implored the former Vice President to quit the race.
A report by NTV indicates that the executive council deemed the bid as humiliating to the persona of the former vice president.
The party's council convened a meeting at the party's headquarters during which they convinced their leader to quit the race.
It is believed that the council is of the opinion that the numbers don't favour the Azimio coalition and that most of the MPs elected under the Azimio umbrella have defected to the Kenya Kwanza camp.

The Senate and National Assemblies are expected to have their first sitting on Thursday during which MPs-elect will be sworn into office and speakers and deputy speakers of both houses elected.
The election of Speakers is the first order of business after swearing of MPs.
Both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza are this Wednesday expected to have parliamentary group meetings to discuss how they will carry their activities on Thursday.
Kalonzo was among 15 individuals who had so far picked nomination papers for the post of Senate speaker.
He had also taken papers for the National Assembly speaker seat in what appeared to be a multi-bet for the Azimio principal.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, and former Mombasa governor candidate Hassan Omar had also collected papers as of 2.45pm on Tuesday.
However, the race would only take shape after knowing who among them will have returned the papers by Wednesday, 2 pm deadline.
Returned nomination papers will also be scrutinized to ascertain candidates meet the set qualification to run for powerful position.
