Whereas Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa takes up the role of majority leader, Azimio picked Opiyo Wandayi for the same role.

Kenya Kwanza and Azimio La Umoja political factions have unveiled the teams that would be leading their respective businesses in the two houses of parliament.

The two teams have in the recent past held their respective Parliamentary Group (PG) meetings in which they settled on the names that would be leading their teams in the National Assembly and the Senate.

The positions included majority and minority leaders, majority and minority whips, and heads of the various departmental committees.

A vicious showdown is looming in the Nationa Assembly where the two rivaling factions both claim majority status, going ahead to jostle for the positions.

On its part, Kenya Kwanza settled on Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa to take up the role of the majority leader.

To deputise Ichung'wa would be Owen Baya, the MP for Kilifi North.

South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has been named the majority Whip, to be deputised by Naomi Waqo.

In the Senate, Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot will lead the team as the majority leader.

Deputising him would be Senator Tabitha Karanja of Nakuru.

Kakamega's Bonni Khalwale has been named the majority chief whip, to be deputised by Senator Ltumbesi Lelegwe of Samburu.

Interestingly, on its part, the Azimio faction is eyeing both majority and minority leadership in the National Assembly.

In the National Assembly, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi has been named as the majority leader, to be deputised by Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.

Suna East's Junet Mohamed has been fronted for the majority whip post being deputised by nominated MP Sabina Chege.

In the upper house, Senator Stewart Madzayo of Kilifi has been named the minority leader, being deputised by Enock Wambua of Kitui.

Isiolo senator Fatuma Dullo has been named the minority whip as Nairobi's Edwin Sifuna deputises her.
