Ruto had directed immediate action against those involved saying police must arrest those involved in the killing of at least 10 police officers.

The National Police Service now says they have launched a multi-agency team to tame insecurity in the Rift Valley region that has been occasioned by cattle rustling.

This comes after 11 people, including 8 police officers and a chief were killed by bandits who were making way with stolen cattle.

In a statement, shortly after Ruto demanded immediate arrest of those behind the murder, NPS now says they are in hot pursuit of the suspects in bid to bring them to book.

"A multi-agency security operation today has been launched in the area to arrest the perpetrators, recover the stolen animals and firearms and return normalcy to the area," reads a statement by NPS spokesperson Bruno Shioso.

NPS spokesperson Bruno Shioso stated that such acts will not be tolerated by the police, terming them as criminality and impunity.

Ruto had directed immediate action against those involved saying police must arrest those involved in the killing of at least 10 police officers.

"After receiving a comprehensive report on the Turkana/Pokot incident that led to 10 security/administration officers losing their lives, I have instructed security agencies to deal firmly, decisively and conclusively with those involved. Cattle rustling will stop na sio tafadhali," Ruto said.

The bodies of the officers killed in Saturday's bandit attack in Turkana East arrived in Nairobi Sunday evening.

They were flown in a police chopper to the Wilson Airport and taken to Chiromo Hospital mortuary, Nairobi.
