The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition will challenge Speaker Moses Wetang'ula decision to declare the Kenya Kenya Kwanza coalition majority in parliament.
Addressing the press on Tuesday, October 11, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka alleged that there was manipulation in the ruling made by Wetang'ula.
On October 6, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula declared Kenya Kwanza Alliance the majority coalition in Parliament.
The Speaker maintained that in factoring in the post-election formations, Kenya Kwanza was the majority coalition in National Assembly with 179 MPs against Azimio’s 157.
"What is clear from the constitution is that the leader of the majority party must lead either a party or a coalition of parties in the National Assembly. I invite the house to note my emphasis on the word either," he said.

Wetangula further said that if Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party could be considered a political party, it had no single Member of Parliament under its banner.
The speaker's decision came after ruling that the 14 want-away members of the United Democratic Movement, Pamoja African Alliance, Movement for Democracy and Growth, and Maendeleo Chap Chap, are part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
“In my considered opinion, it would be imprudent to treat members of UDM, PAA, MCC, and MDG as part of a coalition that they have distanced themselves from and their parties. I am persuaded that the 14 members and their parties are part of Kenya Kwanza coalition,” the Speaker stated.
