"Personal and family matters are not of any concern or importance to the Commission," EACC.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has hit out at Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza warning her that personal and family matters are not of concern to them.

In the statement on Saturday, October 29, EACC maintained that their previous letter sought her response to the allegations of conflict of interest, recruitment irregularities and abuse of office levelled against her.

"EACC takes great exception to the strange allegations of directives attributed to it regarding the use, or otherwise, of Meru Governor’s official vehicles and residence by her spouse. Such personal and family matters are not of any concern or importance to the Commission.

"The EACC letter to the Governor was limited to seeking her response to the allegations of conflict of interest, recruitment irregularities and abuse of office levelled against her. It did not include the strange issues being raised to trivialize and politicize the matter," part of the statement read.

In a recent letter by EACC to Governor Mwangaza, the commission accused the Meru Governor of violating Chapter Six of the Constitution and various other laws in her running of affairs of the county.

EACC, in one of the accusations, cites Kawira for nepotism where she employed her spouse, Murega Baicu as the youth service patron and ambassador for hustlers.

On Friday, October 28, the Meru County first gentleman Murega Baichu claimed that he was being subjected to Gender-based violence adding that he no longer sleeps in the Governor's official residence.
