Lawyer Miguna Miguna has called on the Nyanza residents to rally behind him in his quest to liberate the region.
He appeared to be targeting ODM leader Raila Odinga whom he suggested he held the region captive for years.
Offering himself, Miguna vowed to lead the quest for reforms regarding the region's politics and development agenda.
"I'm ready to lead a fight to liberate the residents of Nyanza from the grasp of an individual," he said.
He reprimanded Raila's supporters who had threatened to be hostile to him upon his landing in the lakeside city.

"We will seek and get justice because without it there can never be reconciliation and peace...It is not a privilege for me to come home, it is my right and I should not be thanking anyone. I heard some people were waiting to stone me for daring to come home, I'm not afraid of them. I will continue to tell the truth and fight for justice fearlessly," he said.
Miguna arrived in Kenya from Canada on October 20 while aboard a Kenya Airways plane.
He had been in exile since 2018 after former President Uhuru Kenyatta's government forced him out of the country.
Attempts for him to come back were blocked by the then government despite the existence of court orders directing them to allow Miguna into the country.
Red alerts were also imposed on him making it tough for him to travel back to the country.
His deportation was linked to the mock swearing-in of ODM leader Raila Odinga s people president in January 2018.
The alerts were however lifted after President William Ruto took power, Miguna announced.
"The government of William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua has lifted the Red Alerts Uhuru Kenyatta illegally imposed against me with the connivance of Raila Odinga.
"My arrival: October 20 at 6am. The Rule of law, fearlessness, persistence and focus have prevailed," Miguna said in a tweet on October 12.
