Kenya Railways has allayed fears over the existence of bedbugs on the Standard Guage Railway (SGR) trains.
In response to concerns by some passengers, the corporation, through a statement dated Monday, September 16, assured Kenyans that the trains are regularly fumigated.
Kenya Railways added that the trains are also cleaned regularly to ensure that no insects are on board.
"Thank you for sharing your concern. Please be assured that our trains are regularly fumigated to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, eliminating any possibility of bedbugs before passengers board.

"We take this very seriously to ensure a comfortable journey for all passengers," read the statement in part.
The corporation made the remarks after some users complained of seeing bedbugs on the Nairobi-Mombasa trains.
On the other hand, Kenya Railways also addressed the commencement date of the SGR premium services.
According to the organisation, various preparation steps such as testing of the wagons were ongoing before the services were rolled out.
"The corporation is in the final stages of preparation, including testing and other pre-launch activities. We will soon announce the launch date and when the new coaches will be available for booking," Kenya Railways stated.
Kenyans who wish to travel on the premium trains will be paying Ksh12,000 for a trip between Nairobi and Mombasa.
