Kenyans trooped to Nyayo stadium on Monday, December 12, for the 59th Jamhuri Day Celebrations. 

20, 000 Kenyans are expected to grace the event which will be led by President William Ruto. 

The focus of this year's Jamhuri Day celebrations will be Kenya's milestones in information and communications technology (ICT). 

The theme of this year’s Jamhuri Day will be Connect, Innovate and Inspire.

Leaders and high-profile guests have started arriving at Nyayo stadium. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, CS Aisha Jumwa, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, and Dr. Patrick Njoroge are among the guests who have arrived at Nyayo.

The Government recently announced changes in how national celebrations will be observed. 

 National celebrations will last a week and focus on issues that touch on the aspirations and priorities of the nation.

"Cabinet has approved national celebrations, from now on, last a week and focus on an issue that touches the aspirations and priorities of the nation. The theme of this year’s Jamhuri Day – Connect, Innovate and Inspire – will be on ICT and innovations.

"As a result, between December 6 and 8, 2022, the focus has been on exhibitions and discussions on the sector, including the presidential launch of the Innovation Outlook for Kenya, at the Sarit Centre Expo Centre in Nairobi," State House said in a statement.
