Remarks by Economist David Ndii indicating that he paid activist Boniface Mwangi with President William Ruto's campaign money during the fight against BBI under the Linda Katiba campaign have degenerated into a bitter exchange of words.
The comments have roped in Mwangi, Narc Kenya Leader Martha Karua and a section of Linda Katiba operatives.
It all began after Ndii claimed that Mwangi had benefitted from a sum of money Ruto donated for Linda Katiba's programme.
He said he paid Mwangi for his participation in the campaign that saw BBI defeated in all courts in the country.
"Time for revelations. Linda Katiba was formed by myself and Martha with Ruto's support. Martha was then a prospect for WSR's running mate. Made full disclosure which is why Makau Mutua was attacking me. Even paid Boniface from WSR campaign money. Hypocrites the whole lot," Ndii tweeted.

But in a rejoinder to the claims, Mwangi denied ever receiving a penny for the Linda Katiba programme.
"Dr David Ndii, I’m ashamed that a man of your stature would stoop this low to malign my name. You know that I volunteered my time and resources to Linda Katiba. I even hosted and fed you in my home. Picture below. You weren’t even in the meeting where Linda Katiba’s name was coined. If you collected money from William Ruto using my name, please account for it," Mwangi said.
Karua on her part fired back at Ndii accusing him of keeping secret that he had received some funding from Ruto.
"David Ndii I am disappointed you have joined the ranks of unmitigated liars. Throughout our collaboration in Lindakatiba, you never disclosed any funding from William Ruto or anybody else. We contributed to our expenses until the end when we secured funding from a philanthropist. If at all William Ruto funded you it was your own private affair," She responded.
She went on defend Mwangi from the attacks saying he indeed received no cash from the Linda Katiba programme.
"I am not aware of Boniface Mwangi being paid from William Ruto's money. I recall by the time Boniface Mwangi left we were not able to refund him out-of-pocket expenses let alone remunerate him," Karua added.
