National carrier Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced it is experiencing an outage in its booking system.
In a statement on Friday, July 19, KQ said the issues resulted from a global system outage that has disrupted airlines, banks, and telecom companies.
KQ noted that passengers should prepare for slower service as the airline implements a business continuity plan.
“We are currently experiencing a system outage that has affected our booking system as a result of a global system outage. Customers are advised to expect slower than usual service as we implement our Business Continuity Plan,” the KQ statement read in part.

The national carrier apologised for the inconvenience caused and urged customers to contact their booking office for assistance.
“Customers can visit our booking offices to get assistance. We apologize for any inconveniences caused. We will share further updates once the issue is resolved,” KQ added.
The global system outage was also experienced in other countries, including the US, where major airlines such as Delta and American Airlines grounded flights due to communication problems.
Flights were also grounded in other countries including the UK, Germany, Malaysia, and Australia.
The outage has been traced to an issue with global cyber security firm Crowdstrike.
