Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba will run for the presidency in the 2026 General Elections.
The scion declared interest in the top seat in a tweet he has pulled down though he has not recanted the statement by the time of going to the press.
"You have wanted me to say it forever! Okay, in the name of Jesus Christ my God, in the name of all the young people of Uganda and the world and in the name of our great revolution, I will stand for the Presidency in 2026," he said.

He went on to say he has grown tired of taking Uganda's top seat due to the fact that he is aging.
"The Prime Minister of the UK is 42 years old, and the Prime Minister of Finland is 37 years. Some of us are hitting 50-year-old. We are tired of waiting forever. We will take a stand!" Muhoozi tweeted.
General Muhoozi has of late made controversial statements over his interest in succeeding his father.
Muhoozi in the past said that the only way he could make his mother proud was by becoming Uganda's top leader.
"The only way I can re-pay my great mother is by being President of Uganda! And I shall definitely do it!" he said in a tweet.
In October last year, Muhoozi who is a General in Uganda raised eyebrows after he claimed he was the country's next President-designate.
He said the opposition under musician-cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine would never lead Uganda.
