Miguna wondered why former president Uhuru Kenyatta still receives his retirement benefits despite being involved in active politics.

Lawyer Miguna has hit out at former president Uhuru Kenyatta for calling a Jubilee Party meeting next month.

In an official communication, Uhuru convened a meeting on May 22 to, among other things, review and formulate party policies.

Miguna however argued that Uhuru was out order by virtue if being a former head of state.

He suggested that as per the law, a retired president loses their retirement benefits in the evening they get involved in active partisan politics.

"Under the Constitution of Kenya 2010, a retired president is NOT entitled to pension and retirement benefits when/if he retains/occupies a partisan political party position or engages in politics. Is Uhuru Kenyatta above the law?" posed Miguna.

Besides reviewing and formulating of party policies, the meeting at Bomas of Kenya will be aimed at receiving status report from the National Executive Committee.

The NDC comes in the wake of infighting in the Jubilee party with one camp allied to Kanini Kega engaging in leadership wrangles to that allied to current SG Jeremiah Kioni.

Kega side has managed to pull all elected MPs and enjoys the support of the executive committee while Kioni enjoys the backing of party leader Uhuru.

Kega and his allies met in Nakuru during which it was resolved that the EALA MP will be acting party secretary general, a decision protested by Kioni and his allies.

The wrangles escalated on Wednesday when two rival groups clashed at the party's headquarters. Kega and his team had gone to occupy the office when they were met with resistance from Kioni's side.

The wrangles forced Uhuru to visit the party headquarters during which he said party issues will be addressed by the outfit.
