President William Ruto on Friday, August 18 met with US Senator for Delaware Chris Coons at State House, Nairobi.
Coons is credited for brokering the Handshake deal between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
Ruto said their talks centred on devolution, Kenya's democracy, climate change and security issues.
"At State House Kenya, Nairobi held talks with US Senator Chris Coons who appreciated Kenya as one of the most vibrant democracies in the world. Also discussed global security issues, climate change and the progressive path of devolution in Kenya," Ruto said in a tweet after the meeting.

The President expressed commitment to working with the US government on areas of mutual interest.
"Kenya is keen on enhancing its relations with the United States to expand trade and investment opportunities for citizens of both nations. This mutually beneficial partnership will extend to climate change mitigation efforts and environmental conservation," the President noted.
Foreign affairs CS Alfred Mutua and US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman were present during the meeting.
Their meeting comes barely a week after Coons met Raila.
The Sunday meeting came a day after the official start of bi-partisan talks that seek to iron out issues of national concerns between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza government.
