KeNHA advised motorists to use four-wheel drive vehicles when traveling to the WRC Safari Rally event in Naivasha. 

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has listed four alternative routes for motorists to avoid being stuck in a traffic snarl-up during the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally. 

The event which is set to be hosted in Naivasha, Nakuru County kicks off on Thursday, March 20 and will run until Sunday, March 23, 2025.

“The World Rally Championship is zooming into town bringing excitement and high-speed action to our roads. To keep you moving smoothly, we have mapped out alternative routes to help you avoid traffic congestion,” KeNHA stated.

The Authority advised motorists to use the Nairobi- Rironi- Flyover (Magumu)- Njabini- Ol Kalou- Dundori-Lanet route to reach Naivasha.

Motorists can also use the adventurous Nairobi- Rironi- Naivasha- Engineer- Ol Kalou- Dundori- Lanet route or the Nairobi- Thika-Magumu-Ol Kalou- Dundori- Lanet trail.

KeNHA further noted that motorists can opt for the Nairobi-Ngong- Kibiko-Suswa shortcut to reach Naivasha.

The authority advised motorists to use four-wheel drive vehicles to go to the event.

President William Ruto is expected to officially flag off the WRC Safari Rally cars at KICC before the cars go to Kasarani before heading to Naivasha for the second stage.

The event attracts more than 100,000 visitors and is watched by over 120 million people in 170 countries globally, with over 50 international television channels airing it.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has announced it will deploy officers to ensure the event runs smoothly.

“To ensure that this momentous event runs smoothly, the National Police Service will be on the ground to provide security and ensure the safety of all.

“We have deployed additional Traffic Police Officers on the roads to ensure the free flow of traffic. In addition, we are collaborating with the National Transport and Safety Authority to conduct road safety compliance checks,” NPS said in a statement on Wednesday.
