The Bomet County official died on Wednesday, May 21, evening in Nairobi.

Governor Hillary Barchok has mourned the death of Bomet county Chief Officer for Finance, ICT, and Economic Planning, Erick Chepkwony.

Chepkwony who was also the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) Vice Chairman died on Wednesday May 21 evening in Nairobi.

The Bomet County official is said to have collapsed and died after vomiting while in the bathroom.

In a statement on Thursday, May 22, Governor Barchok said he was after learning Chepkwony’s death.

“I was shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of our Chief Officer for Finance, CPA Erick Chepkwony.

“My heart goes out to his family, the people of Bomet, and the KTDA fraternity, where he served as National Vice Chair. This devastating loss feels even more profound as we remember how full of life he was just yesterday,” Barchok stated.

The Bomet governor extended his prayers to Chepkwony’s family and assured them that he will stand with them during the tough times.

“May the Lord grant his loved ones, colleagues, and all who knew him the strength and fortitude to endure this painful moment. We stand with his family during this unimaginably difficult time and pledge our steadfast support,” Barchok added.

Chepkwony was appointed as the Bomet Chief Officer for Cooperatives in December 2022, before being transferred to Public Works and later to the Finance docket in September 2023.

On August 23, 2024, Chepkwony was elected Vice Chairman of KTDA Holdings while Enos Njeru was re-elected as the Chairman.
