KUCCPS has announced it will open its portal for inter-institutional transfers on Monday, July 14, 2025.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced it will open its portal for inter-institutional transfers on Monday, July 14, 2025.

In a statement on Sunday, July 13, KUCCPS said the transfer window will run up to August 12, 2025.

The agency invited students who wish to change the universities or colleges they were placed in to access the KUCCPS Student Portal starting Monday to apply.

According to KUCCPS, students can change or retain their courses during the inter-institutional transfers.

“KUCCPS supports students to continue aligning their career selections after placement, through the Inter-Institutional Transfer process. The transfer process is intended for students who wish to change their universities or colleges after placement. Student can change or retain their courses during the transfer.

“Students placed this year and wish to transfer to other institutions are invited to apply online through the KUCCPS Student’s Portal from July 14 to August 12, 2025,” read the statement in part.

How the Inter-Institutional Transfer Works

Students who wish to change the universities or colleges they were placed in initiate the transfer process through the KUCCPS student portal.

The request goes to the receiving institution, which then endorses the application online through their institution’s portal and accepts the student.

The releasing institution is notified and releases the student online through the institution’s portal.

The application is then returned to KUCCPS for approval, and a transfer letter is generated.

The student downloads the approved transfer letter from the Student’s Portal and presents it to the receiving institution for issuance of the admission letter and joining instructions.

“For transfer applications to go through, the receiving institution must accept the applicants, and the applicant must meet the cut-off points for the programmes of their choice in the desired institution,” KUCCPS stated.
