Kenya's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Ababu Namwamba, has marvelled at the success of fast-rising football star Aldrine Kibet.
Kibet signed a four-year deal with La Liga side Celta Vigo.
He will play for the Spanish top-flight football team as of next season, starting in August.
Ababu promised the youngster that he would be at the stadium on his debut match.
"I am a phenomenal fan of yours, and I cheer you every step. When you make your debut game, the first match you play in, I will be in the stadium. Now I am a Celta Vigo fan," Ababu told Aldrine in a video call.

Aldrine peaked in his football during Ababu's tenure as the Sports Cabinet Secretary.
He came to the limelight after a successful campaign during the 2023 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA), then playing for St. Anthony's Boys High School.
Aldrine was spotted by the Tarragona-based Nastic Sports Academy in Spain, which he joined to hone his sport in anticipation of his transition to the top-flight league in Spain.
He was taken into the La Liga team in a €6 million (equivalent to Ksh 900 million) deal.
The youngster will now camp with Celta Fortuna as he transitions to the first team.
Aldrine attributed his success to Ababu, who offered him the support at the peak of his talent during the secondary school ball games two years ago.
