Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has convened a meeting with Jubilee Party grassroots leaders at Thika Greens in Murang’a County.

Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Friday, November 7, convened a meeting with Jubilee Party grassroots leaders.

The Jubilee Party leader arrived at the Thika Greens golf resort in Murang’a County a few minutes before 12 PM and was received by former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and other party officials.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, former Chief Administrative Secretary Zack Kinuthia, and former Kajiado North MP Joseph Manje are also attending the meeting.

Uhuru is expected to explain the party's strategies to the grassroots leaders ahead of the 2027 general election.

The meeting comes days after the Jubilee Party appointed Matiang'i as the Deputy Party Leader.

The former CS was given the role during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting,  chaired by Uhuru on Thursday, October 30.

The party also endorsed the former CS as its presidential candidate in the 2027 General Election.

"We have received and formally accepted Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s application for his presidential bid, and the NEC has agreed that he carries our flag. We have also appointed Matiang’i as our Deputy Party Leader going forward," Kioni said.

The NEC meeting also focused on internal restructuring and strengthening the party’s grassroots machinery ahead of the polls.

On Friday, September 26, Uhuru convened the party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) at the Ngong Race Course in Nairobi.

Speaking in the NDC, Uhuru confirmed that Jubilee Party continues to be a member of the Azimio coalition, despite significant changes within the coalition's membership over recent years.

He explained that the party had originally joined Azimio because of a shared vision for the country's future.

"When we last convened a National Delegates Conference prior to the 2022 general elections, the party resolved to become a member of the Azimio La Umoja coalition because I, as party leader then and now, was convinced that the coalition and its members shared a common vision for our country," he stated

Uhuru also said the Jubilee Party is actively preparing for the next general election, emphasizing the party's commitment to fielding strong candidates across all elective positions.

"Make no mistake when I say that, like any other political party, we shall be prepared, we shall be preparing for the next general election and doing so in earnest, and it remains our firm intention to field the best possible candidates for all elective positions. We shall either do this on our own or we shall do this in concert with like-minded political movements," Uhuru added.
