FKF has issued a condemnation following violent incidents that led to the abandonment of the Nairobi United versus Gor Mahia match at Dandora Stadium.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has issued a condemnation following violent incidents that led to the abandonment of the Nairobi United versus Gor Mahia match at Dandora Stadium.

In a statement on Sunday, December 21, FKF President Hussein Mohammed said the federation will not tolerate acts of hooliganism that undermine the integrity of the game and endanger stakeholders.

"I strongly condemn the acts of hooliganism that forced the abandonment of today’s Nairobi United vs Gor Mahia match. This behaviour will not be tolerated in Kenyan football," he said.

Mohammed stated that FKF has already activated its disciplinary mechanisms, with both internal football justice systems and state authorities involved in addressing the incident.

"FKF has formally initiated disciplinary processes, and the matter is being referred to our judicial bodies for determination. Club and match officials are required to record statements, while criminal investigations are being pursued with the relevant authorities," he added.

Mohammed also expressed solidarity with Azam TV following the destruction of their broadcast equipment, stressing the importance of safeguarding partners who invest in Kenyan football.

"I also stand with Azam TV following the vandalism of their broadcast van. Our partners must be protected, and those responsible will be held accountable," he further said.

In a separate statement, Azam Media Group detailed the extent of the damage caused during the live broadcast and condemned the violent scenes witnessed at the stadium.

"Azam Media Group condemns the series of events witnessed today at the Dandora Stadium - in Nairobi Kenya, during the Live Broadcast of the Nairobi United FC v Gor Mahia FC match at 4 PM, where the OB Van has been vandalized, and equipment destroyed," it said.

Azam TV warned that such incidents threaten efforts to promote and grow the Kenyan Premier League through consistent live coverage.

"While Azam Media Group strives to elevate and support the growth of the Kenyan Premier League by ensuring maximum visibility of the League through the Live Broadcasts, such incidents of vandalism will not only be a setback but also paints a gloomy picture of the Kenyan Premier League," the company added.

Azam TV confirmed that despite the destruction of equipment, all members of its production team were unharmed.

"Azam Media Group ensures maximum guaranteed Safety and Security for our Production Staff, and we are glad to report none of our staff members have been injured," it explained.

The media house added that it is working closely with FKF to assess the situation and will provide further details after completing its internal review.

"We continue to monitor the situation in collaboration with the Football Kenya Federation, and we will issue a comprehensive report shortly. Azam Media Group highly condemns this height of hooliganism witnessed today at Dandora Stadium," the company concluded.

The match between Nairobi United and Gor Mahia was abandoned following crowd violence at Dandora Stadium.

The game could not continue after unrest in the stands created an unsafe environment for players, match officials, and spectators.

At the time of abandonment, the match was tied 1-1; Gor Mahia had taken the lead through Ebenezer Adukwaw before Nairobi United equalised via Ovella Ochieng’.

The disturbances reportedly escalated shortly after the equaliser, with objects thrown onto the pitch and confrontations breaking out among supporters.

Security personnel were unable to restore order, prompting the referee to halt the match permanently.
