Former Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura has announced plans to vie for the Murang'a senatorial seat in the August 9 General Elections.
Speaking on Monday, February 14, the former Senator disclosed that he tendered his resignation as Chairman of Communication Authority of Kenya on February 8 to focus on politics.
"Devolution is very important in spearheading development at grassroots and the role of senator in oversight of funds given to devolved units is very critical," he said.
Gitura stated that he performed well during his tenure between 2013 and 2017 and so he wants to start where he had left, also noting that any funds allocated to projects in the county will be well utilized.
Gitura lost the senatorial seat to Irung'u Kang'ata in 2017 after which he worked for Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) respectively.

Kang'ata announced his interest to run for the Murang'a county gubernatorial seat in December 2021, pledging to facilitate better structures in government and enhance service delivery to the people.
“The residents here have been suffering due to poor health services and lack of drugs in the public hospitals but I will rectify this if I clinch to the seat
“I have been organizing a series of medical camps in various parts of the county to take the medical services closer to the people who cannot afford to go to the hospital,” he stated.
